"The Best of WWE Confidential Volume 1"

So I decided to go old school and throw in this DVD from a few years back, just to relive some of the good stories that Confidential had back when it was on the air.

After watching it I really miss this show, its way better than watching meaningless matches on Velocity or Heat. We kick off with an entire rundown of how Stone Cole Steve Austin walked out on WWE after deciding he didn't like the direction of the company.  We hear from Vince McMahon on the situation and of course the man who always has some negative comments on every DVD it seems, Jim Ross.  It's a pretty good rundown of the events that led up to all this, and how it was handled by the WWE.

This DVD also covers some big stories such as the Montreal Screw job and DX invading WCW from back in the Monday Night War days.  This is good stuff as we get to hear from guys that took part in the events such as Triple H and Billy Gunn.  Also covered is the story of the final Nitro, after WWE bought WCW.  We also get to see a different side of the WWE superstars, as we get a tour of Trish Stratus's house, as she guides us thru every room, and her house is pretty MTV Crib-ish.  She shows her various wrestling figure and other collections.  We also see William Regal and his odd lizard collection.

We get profile stories on Superfly Jimmy Snuka, complete with a sit down interview with the Superfly himself, discussing his careers ups and downs.  Another great profile on the DVD is on the one and only Bobby the Brain Heenan. Then a profile on the late British Bulldogs career and highlights all the way from the British Bulldogs tag team days, to his final days in WWE.  And also a profile on Rikishi who talks about his life growing up and his various family members who are also involved in the wrestling business.  An interesting to say the least moment follows as we see Rikishi and family bust out a little Samoan dance ritual.  We see a story on Randy Ortons 3rd generation status, complete with interview from Cowboy Bob Orton and even Bob Orton Sr.

We also relive the historical night that Eric Bischoff joined WWE.  Comments from Eric and Vince are included.  This event seemed huge at the time, but now that's its been a few years, its sad that it didn't amount to very much given the historical significance!

This DVD includes 4 bonus matches, that fit right in with the stories on the DVD:

Jimmy Snuka vs. Ray Stevens - 12-28-82

Bret Hart vs. British Bulldog - WWE SummerSlam 8-29-92

Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels - WWE Survivor Series 11-9-97 (Infamous Montreal Screwjob)

Scott Steiner vs. Booker T - WCW Nitro 3-26-01 (Final Nitro Episode)

This is a good DVD for some good random stories on various WWE Topics.  Also a good chance to relieve some stories that seem to get forgotten with there being SO much wrestling on TV these days, its good to take a look back once in a while and relive some of the better times in wrestling.

Too bad this show didn't last long enough to see a "Best of Confidential Volume 2!"  A nice addition to the wrestling collection here, especially if you enjoy documentary style wrestling DVD's.
